Boxing

If hope was personified, and it turned out to be a guy – I’d give it a nice big, hefty jab in the private place. Because no matter how much you try to stifle it and suffocate it, it just keeps coming back.

Now… I can finally poke my nose into Abu Dhabi traffic!

Allah sab ko apnay hifz-o-amaan mein rakhay :P

Of all the fuss these guys make over giving you a drivers license, the test was surprisingly simple – mine hardly lasted forty seconds! I was asked to take a left turn from the round about, then stop. That’s it! Although technically it did last a bit longer if you count the following conversation! For one thing – people here generally assume I’m Egyptian or Lebanese and start talking to me in Arabic. And I admit, I’m not that fluent in Arabic :P Khair, after figuring out that I was from Pakistan (and that I didn’t speak Arabic) he started talking to me in one word sentences.

Him: Pashtoon?
Me: What? Oh, no no –
Him: Baloshi?
Me: (Dude, let me finish!) No no, I’m from Karachi!
Him: Where?

So of all the places in Pakistan, he didn’t know where Karachi was!

And I got called Myed Absar Ahmed Shah because the lady at the issuing counter couldn’t differentiate between a seen and a meem. And she was a real Arab, not someone who just looked Egyptian :P

Khair all is forgiven now that I have a license! :P

So when are you buying your yellow Mustang?

Never knew you had such a long name :)

@Asma: Abay oo… hotay hein bhai yahan bhi pedestrians, kya matlab hai tumhara! :P

@Saffi: Who needs a Mustang when stealing your brothers Accord away is so much more fun? :P I don’t know man – pehle zara haath saaf kar luun, then I’d think about it!

@Pinky: Lol! :P You’re looking too closely. It’s not such a bad picture – especially when you compare it with the one on my Pakistani ID card. or if you compare it with this :P

@Anas: Lol! Anonymity man! Ssshhhh! :P

@DM: You never knew? Really? Aray these people actually append Babas full name to my full name too… Syed Absar Ahmed Shah Syed Nisar Ahmed Shah. Usually there’s not enough space on cards to write it, so they write is Syed Absar Ahmed S.S.N.A. Shah :P

Cool! Don’t forget to post your first ticket as well! :D

lolz @ Saadat =P

Well every one has said pretty much everything except for one….best of luck on the road.

lol… congrats on getting the license! i just moved to AD from Karachi and I’m considering whether or not I should take the test…

Oh God!!! All pedestrians stay clear of all Abu Dhabi roads. Oh and all drivers stay clear of them too. :P

Maybe you all should get jet licenses. :P

Lol. I remember the same thing I saw on my Dad’s certificates (of the courses he completed in Saudia). They also used to write his full name first and then my dada’s name. The name used to stretch like anything.

Well, best of luck with the driving.

Somedays, I am so glad I have no difficult sounds in my name but people STILL mess it up for some reason!

@Specs: seen is a difficult sound? :/ (Yes, I assume things :P )

@Khawab: Oye hoye! Humari qismat aap tashreef laaien idhar!! Just lemme change it now! How’ve you been, it’s been SO DAMN long since I’ve heard from you! Wait.. lemme fire out an email.

@Zios: *sigh* I have to do all the work myself… tell me which city you’re on right now, I’ll come there myself :P
